Trail Description
About this trail
Network of trails running mostly along the top of the Allegheny plateau. Rock gardens and technical pick your way through obstacles used to be the calling card of these trails, but some have been smoothed for cross country skiing. Technical rock gardens still exist on trails like silver mine, black bear, fish run, wolf and bear rocks and many little side connecting trails. Not a lot of rolling speedy single track. If you like technical trails give the Laurel Highlands a try. Trail maps are available at varios picnic / parking areas and the ranger station in Linn Rin State Park.

Review: This is my home trail system. I've been riding this for years and hopefully one of these days I will actually find the trails hidden beneath all these rocks. Seriously, this is a very technical trail system. Rocks and boulders abound. There are a lot of technical features just off the main trails if you know where to look. Some of the trails like Outcrop, Hemlock, and Rocky Gap are extremely rocky and nearly impossible to clean even for those who have ridden them for years. Fun and challenging with few climbs, definitely not beginner material. Spruce Run provides a nice , if somewhat rocky downhill and Black Bear provides a rocky but doable challenge.

Review: Extensive trail system undulating along Laurel Ridge. Technical trails abound and offer riders a challenging day. Rock gardens and boulder gardens are peppered along most trails and there are even some fire roads that give you a chance to look around the beautiful hardwood forest. You can also ride out to to the abandoned Laurel Mt. Ski Resort and ride the slopes and the surrounding trails.

Review: Description is very accurate. Put on an old derailleur and enjoy the technical rock gardens and man made log climbs and bridges, and a couple boulder canyons and fields. Not a lot of long climbs because you are mostly on top of the ridge, but if you want some climbing you can always start in Linn Run and pick your way up the ridge to the trails on top. If you are looking for fast, pumping single track this is not the trail, but if you like to rip off your derailleur, smash your knee off your handle bars, endo into a bog, cry and then laugh about it at the end of the day, well then come on out.
