Shargamorit is in the far NW corner of the area. Selkh Am (Selkh Valley) runs north and south right up the middle of the area. There is about 40 km of trail here, mostly consisting of old fading two track going up and down the side valleys and faint ST and two tracks on top of the ridges.

Review: You can access the east ridge (and the west ridge for that matter) from the last bus stop in the main valley of Selkh Am. This is shown on the trail map. But you can also access the east ridge from the other side of the ridge at the NE corner of the area at Selbe Amaralt (camp). From the camp the quickest way to the top of the east ridge is head due west around the toe of the lower ridge coming down from the north. Once around the toe, follow the trail NW up the slope. It's about a mile climb and 750' of elevation pretty much straight up the fall line. You can also access the east ridge by heading north after you get around the toe of the ridge. There is a nice trail that heads due north contouring up the slope for a couple of miles. It is a nice ride in the forest. In the end it turns NW to obtain the top of the ridge. Finally, you can access the east ridge by heading due north from the camp as shown on the map for the west ridge ride. All these options are really good rides, just different lengths mainly.

Review: The first time we rode this area about a year ago, we rode the east ridge from the last bus stop in Selkh Am. It's a relatively short ride (6 mi / 10 km), but a good one. Today we rode the west ridge. It is much more complex and bigger. You have to piece together two tracks and small singletracks to work you way south down the ridge. The area is a mix of big climbs, blazing descents, pretty forests, barren rocky slopes, and outstanding views. It takes a lot of physical effort and a lot of navigation. All in all, it makes for a great mountain biking experience.

Review: Very fun, beautiful, adventurous area. Once you are on trail, it feels so wild that it's hard to believe you are within the city limits of Ulaanbaatar -- a city of 1.5 million people. There is lots of steep climbing and descending mostly on big slopes breaking off high ridges. Ascending will require a large amount of hike-a-bike for most riders. Descending is very fast. Riding on the ridges is technical with lots of rock and faint ST. The ridges themselves can have steep technical climbs along with fast, oftentimes technical descents. Beautiful views throughout. I would rank the entire experience 5 stars. Really fun.
