This is a great ride! The views of the gullies, forest, and Waikato river are simply amazing. All the ferns and down trees make you feel like you're riding through Jurassic Park. Crazy feeling. This route beats taking the road to Huka Falls and Craters.
This track will take some skill though. There's a lot of dubris on the track surface and deep water erosion lines. There are some places that the clay cliff side can, will, and has land slipped across the track. Careful going around those. I slipped on a pile of those clay rocks and got a leg full of em, ergh.
This track is two way and also has runners and walkers on it as well, so be mindful of that. The track may get a bit narrow for passings at times and there are some blind(-er) corners.
EDIT: After talking to some locals, they say the trail is usually much better kept. The debris on the trail was probably front the recent stormy weather that passed through the area.
