Trail Description
About this trail
This track goes from Taupo to Huka Falls.
The trail starts and ends on an easy grade with a technical middle section. It crosses streams, winds through gullies, runs around and under trees, and passes farmland, offering great views of the Waikato River along the way.
To get back to Taupo, riders cross the bridge over the Waikato River and can either go via the 2.5 km Redwood Track on Huka Falls Road or turn left onto Huka Falls Road and ride that back to Taupo.
Alternatively riders can continue out on the 7 km Aratiatia Dam Track or cross the river and head up to Craters of the Moon MTB Park.

Review: It's a very pleasant ride from Taupo to Huka Falls. The are some nice views of the Waikato River along the way. The Falls themselves are well worth the trip.
It's worth carrying on to Aratiatia rapids and from there you can ride back up the other side of the river for a 30km loop.

Review: An enjoyable, relatively easy "out and back" ride. Good fun winding round some of the valley edges but nothing too challenging.

Review: This is a great ride! The views of the gullies, forest, and Waikato river are simply amazing. All the ferns and down trees make you feel like you're riding through Jurassic Park. Crazy feeling. This route beats taking the road to Huka Falls and Craters.
This track will take some skill though. There's a lot of dubris on the track surface and deep water erosion lines. There are some places that the clay cliff side can, will, and has land slipped across the track. Careful going around those. I slipped on a pile of those clay rocks and got a leg full of em, ergh.
This track is two way and also has runners and walkers on it as well, so be mindful of that. The track may get a bit narrow for passings at times and there are some blind(-er) corners.

EDIT: After talking to some locals, they say the trail is usually much better kept. The debris on the trail was probably front the recent stormy weather that passed through the area.
