Okay, the Pipeline Trail itself is not so great: a straight-line series of steep climbs
and drops, ruts and loose rocks skirting a bunch of backyards. Yikes. But just to
its north is a radical web of mostly social trails in the junipers and egg-shaped
boulders just below the edge of the mountain. Start below Buffalo Park and head
toward Fatman's Loop at the east side of town - you can't get too lost. Forces of
Nature is the "official" track here and is marked reasonably well. Watch for
dangerous drops and false trails. Generally, the riding gets more difficult heading
east.

From Buffalo Park, ride straight toward Mt. Elden to the fence. Pass through and
get on the Oldham Trail. Drop down steeply to a lattice of singletracks and keep
heading toward Elden to intersect the Pipeline Trail in a clearing.
