Trail Description
About this trail
Alright, I couldn't believe that our beloved Peaks View Park was not on this website yet. Hey, these are some great trails! Lots of short, steep up & downs, with enough technical demands to keep your attention . . . plenty of lovable, tight, twisty, rhythmic singletrack. Most of the trails are blue (intermediate), but there are a couple of expert trails too (Roller Coaster & Bottom Out). The trails are well-marked and well taken care of, thanks to the Central Virginia Mountain Bike Assoc ( From the parking lot, cross the wood bridge over the creek and hang a right. You'll cruise along the creek and past a basketball court some softball and soccer fields along the paved bike path. There are three trail heads. To get a feel for everything this great network has to offer, go on past the first two all the way to trail head III. Take the trail to the right (Mimosa) which will take you to the back coner of the network. From there, take Lower Piney to Cyclone. Turn left toward trail head II, then right to take on Roller Coaster. It is entirely appropriate to whoop it up on this trail! There are a lot more trails than these out there though.

Review: My go to for a great workout since there is no respite at this park. Very rooty and tight so your core is almost always engaged and if you're not careful, you'll be on the deck before you know it...focus is pretty important there. The fun to be had is simply by building your own loop and time trialing weekly. I will say that I have taken novice riders here and they don't do very well here. (I ruined my son here and a few others, it's not beginner)

My preferred route is about 6 miles and includes the following: Trailhead 1/ left on Grape Vine/ left on Steve's Bowl-a-Rama/ right to Cyclone/ cross fire road to Lower Piney/ left and cross fire road to Outback/ left on Tom Cat to cross fire road to Upper Piney/ right onto Ivy Ridge/ cross fire road onto Bottom Out/ past Trail Head 2 and left on Roller Coaster/ straight into Slick Rock then Grape Vine/ out at the Trail Head 1 greenway....back to the red barn parking area.

The trail has gotten a lot of attention from GLOCK and others lately so the there's been some minor changes to trail routes (reclamation) but also some great grooming work done as well.

Similar Trail: Falling Creek, but FC is longer with areas of respite.

Review: If you love mildly aggressive XC, then peaks view is going to be your happy place. Recommend trails: Tom Cat, Bowl-A-Rama, Roller Coaster, and Outback. All trails present a different challange. Fun small skills area and Three Amigos jumps to find as well. Plenty of awesome trails. Plenty of Fun (because that's what matters most.)

Review: A good trail almost in the heart of Lynchburg.Well build and good signage.Flowing and short easy climbs with an few short technical areas. We measured about 12 miles.Four days after the rain stopped there was some mud pits left.My advice would be to cut knicks to help drain.Peaks View park overall was a treasure with a greenway, ball fields, restrooms and playgrounds.

Review: A very well built and marked trail system.Good flow and some technical areas. We totaled about 12 miles of trail.Four days after the rain stopped there were still several mud pits.Low places need to cut nicks for drainage.peaks View park in itself is very nice with a greenway, ball fields, restrooms and play grounds.

Review: We checked this out recently and this little trail system is really fun. There is great flowing single track. I especially recommend "roller coaster". It has the feel of a pump track, with some little DH sections. Great stuff!
Not too much elevation change here, but there are steep technical climbs to be found. There is also a skills practice area with ramps for different skill levels.

Similar Trail: Carvins Cove (enchanted Forest section)
