Trail Description
About this trail
This park has a lot of rocky terrain. There is even a homemade BMX style area where you can fly in the air like birds (just watch the low hanging branches). There is a really good single-track trail that follows a dry creek bed for miles. There are also some good drops and downhill areas for you free ride guys. The upper part of the park is a decent area for beginners but it gets a little more technical down in the lower end of the park (along of creek bed). There are usually hikers around the upper part of the park but it is usually pretty "hiker-free" in the more technical areas. A great park overall though.

Review: Like others have said only a good ride if you take the time to pick out all the good trails along the paved area;the trails kind of meander around the paved trail. Been riding here for ~3years and I have a good smooth run set up throughout this area, and after this long it is still entertaining

Review: The trail system is intermediate to advance. The trails are great for every type of rider experience level with the exception of picking the best path. I have been trail riding OP for about 10 years and it always packs a punch!

Review: I used to ride this park ten years ago. Much improved since then. Light rain yesterday 2/15/15. Pretty slick, had lots of fun. Wetness made some technical climbs a real challenge.

Review: I am one of the older riders here, and I remember when OP was THE place to ride. Years ago this place offered miles on sweet, twisty, technical singletrack. Now, with the building of the Leon Creek greenbelt system, which runs right through the heart of the old trail system, a lot of the best runs have been destroyed. There is still a lot of trail on the upper end of the park, near Bandera Rd., but the damage has been done. NOT recommended for people who have never ridden here, unless you are with somebody who already knows the trail system. You can get lost, or may never discover the hidden gems that actually still exist. Still a lot of good runs here, you just gotta find them! Also, I am very sad to report this: as of January 2014, the has been 1 murder here, and 1 attempted rape of a female jogger. No suspects have been found. If you are a female rider, carry a phone and PLEASE ride with a group of people. All riders be aware. Ride in groups. It really pisses me off that the criminal element has stained what was once a supreme local riding destination.

Review: Just rode these trails for the 1st time. It was very difficult to figure out where to go. Simply stated, its chaotic. You certainly can't get into a flow. Just when you think you've found a trail worth riding it might dead end or end up back on the pavement. There are a lot of limbs and branches covering the trails. Some of the trails were very overgrown. I will so that I only rode the area near the OP Schnabel trail head before giving up and going to the pavement. So, maybe there is another area that is better but I didn't find it.

Review: To reinforce other comments, the upper section has lots of winding trails, some rocky/rooty. Low trees were trouble for me (6'8")

Better to get down to the river bed, and go up/down Leon Creek. Trails extend down the creek beyond OP Schnabel. No real elevation change. You can work your way back up on the paved trail or find some good trails back to OP.

I suggest you take your phone (GPS enabled) to figure out where you are, and help find your way back to parking.

Review: Reminds me of Mcallister park, only a little tech riding here. Again never had to get off my bike. Not hard to follow but has a lot of side trails that I wish I knew went to. There's a really cool creek bed that provides some jumps and technical rock practice. Bring mosquito spray

Review: Didn't like the way the trails were set up, no markers, poor flow. There were some highlights thou some fun downhill, a few little jumps, and links in with lots of other close parks
