I get to travel around Tn and have a goal to ride a bunch of new trails and explore. This is a cool trail to explore as you definitely get a "back country" experience. Many of our trails maximize miles per acre, Mousetail has the land and they use it. The challenging part is the really like to take you up and down the main hills. There IS a LOT of tight climbing and decending. Not fast full out decents but tight twisty ones.
If you are not a strong rider you will struggle on the climbs, don't bring a newbie here, they will suffer. The trails is fairly well marked "in green" but you have to look continually as I lost the trail for good at one point. Most of the riding is single or double track and who ever laid it out did a great job.
To find the trailhead go to the welcome center and turn right following the road over the hill to the gravel parking lot. The trail begins back down the road just a bit on the right. I suggest using a GPS to get back to the car, I needed it and am a pretty good explorer.
Be ready for great scenery, pretty good climbs and nice singletrack. This trail is worth travelling to.
