Review: I've been here a few times, and always enjoyed the trails. This past weekend I just rode the North Side trails for the first time and absolutely loved them. Very smooth and flowy, and very peaceful. I felt alone in the forest at times.

Review: This trail is so fun! I love the new trails across the street. Portions of them remind me of Ridgeline in Dupont. Great job trail builders!

Review: This is my favorite place to ride. It is a 45 minute drive from my house, and offers terrain that makes you feel like you are in the actual mountains. Some beautiful views, and some of the areas of the trail just have a magical feeling about them. If you need to get away from the city and get a reset, this is a great place to do it. Some great climbs, amazing sections of singletrack, nice rock gardens, and some great descents. Do not miss riding "The Rattler" in a downhill direction, and "Major Tom" in a downhill direction. I absolutely love "Land of the Lost", beautiful area. It has some switchback climbs that are a nice challenge.

Review: MST is a system of 5 connected trails and is part of Hanging Rock State Park. The trailhead is located at the barn for parking. There are no restrooms or other facilities, so bring what you need. The shortest loop is the 3-mile Original Loop, but you can connect to 2 other trails from it: Land of the Lost is a 1.7 mile trail filled with some technical features and Major Tom offers strenuous climbs/descents with some rocky sections. Both offshoots have creek crossings. These trails offer fun in both directions--try them all. The trails were built well, so they dry quickly after rain. The Rattler trail isn't yet on the printed maps, but it's a challenging, technical downhill -- very short, but very fun. You access Rattler from the top of Major Tom near the ridge and it ends in the trailhead parking lot. Currently, there are no signs for it, so look for the less-traveled trail off of the southeast side of Major Tom near the top. Finally, the North Side trail is located on the other side of the road, or you can get to it by leaving the trailhead parking lot and following the trail down and through the creek. As of Jan 2018, it's closed for maintenance, which is good because some of its wooden bridges were pretty sketchy. Hopefully they'll add better signage, too, because that's the easiest trail to get lost on. Overall, MST is a beautiful area with breath-taking views at the top of the ridge. Trails have great flow sections, good climbs, and a few little rollers and rock gardens. This is my favorite place for a weekend drive, and the roads leading there are also really scenic. It's also never that crowded unless there's a demo. Highly recommended.

Review: Sweet trail... Wish it was longer but it still had to be some of the best singletrack east of the mountains. Rode this during the holiday break and had a blast. Wish I had trail like this in VA Beach area!!

Review: The trails are hard to find b/c there is no signage. Look for old, abandoned barn just before a bridge and that's where parking for the trailhead is. Only had time for the Original Loop, but it was a blast!

Review: Love the natural setting and how natural the trails are. A special perk is you can fill your pack/bottles with cold mountain spring water from a pipe next to the trail early on in the ride. The view of Hanging Rock and Wolf Rock (I think) from "Major Tom" is always lovely. Review: This was my first time riding this trail. Beautiful car drive to get there, which gets you in the mood for riding in the hills. When I got there, I met a local rider named Scott. This was his home trail and he was very helpful in giving guidance on riding the trail, he recommended I ride it counterclockwise, which spreads out the climbing throughout the ride versus all at the start.
Trail was very well made. Rock gardens, great berms, some tight switchbacks, and some great downhills. My favorite part was cresting the mountain and having the beautiful view of Hanging Rock. This made the climbing worth it. I would definitely recommend this trail for intermediate to advanced riders. Fun time!! I rode two laps, and the second lap was of course faster than the first.
