The Middle Fork Road is a steep, rocky 4x4 road that runs from US Hwy 50 up to the beginning of the Hancock Lakes Trail. Along the way it intersects with the Boss Lake Trail, and between Boss Lake and Hancock Lakes the CDT runs along the road.
