Trail Description
About this trail
This trail is located at the Governor's mansion. There are three short trails with
multiple connector trails, all marked by blazes on trees according to color. The red
trail and the trails at Kaw River State Park next door are the most fun.

Review: Probably your best bet for single track near Topeka. The trails are more like hiking trails you can ride your bike on, don't expect many features. If you make your way to the red trail section south of the Governor's Mansion & by the rail road, there are a few small jumps & a fun little raised log. As many have said, the red line is the trail to ride. I think the blue line is worth your time as well. A lot of punchy little uphills & fun, fast downhills. There is a section on the red trail at the west end of the park with some really steep switchbacks, which can be fun too.

Review: Although there are a number of trails in the area, the red line is really the main one which is MTB worthy. Some hard climbs and great descents, but a short trail overall. Good for locals, but I would not travel a long distance to ride it.

Review: Really a great set of trails. Once you get the layout you can put together 9-10 miles of riding without ever repeating a trail. I would classify this as mostly intermediate with some sort of advanced short sections. Need to keep an eye open for walkers and runners with headphones on not paying attention. Not super well marked but it isn't hard to get your bearings. Has a little bit of everything to offer from smooth hardpack to rocky downhills, gravel trail, roots and ruts. Just a great all around trail set. After rain beware it gets slick and nasty in a big way in a hurry.

Review: This is a bunk submission. This trail already exist under Maclennan Park and should not be aloud to be duplicated in order to have accurate documentation of our Kansas trails.

Review: This trail has attitude! With the rugged downhill and technical climbs, twists and turns. You will get a good workout. You will cover a good size area as well. The main trails are marked rather well but there are lots of unmarked intersections that will turn you around. You will encounter a lot of change in terrain as you ride top to bottom and back to the top. Big rocks, roots, loose dirt, chat rock, prairie grass, and hard packed dirt covered in leaves. I had a great time on this trail, just wish the trails were marked better or less random choices along the way.

Review: This is a pretty good trail system. Very well marked by color (Color markers on the trees all along each trail), Maps up in different areas. The trails are pretty short run trails, if you want a lot of miles you'll be doing the same trails over and over. There is a section on the red trail that has jumps and fun bridges, and other fun things etc. This section has been let go, It's over grown and not kept up. Real let down from last time I was there a few years back.

Review: This is a great trail with a lot of hills and some great flow. Behind the Governor's mansion is a trail that flows all the way down to the river. On the east side are trails with roots, rocks and steep climbs. This trail has a little bit of everything. I think it is better than Dornwood (both in Topeka) because of the variety.

Review: I recently moved to Topeka and needed to find a trail to get comfortable on my bike again. I have a Trek hard tail and this trail is a perfect match for it. It has beginner gravel, double track, intermediate and advance single track. Trail, difficulty is clearly marked indicating difficulty. I've been here a week and have rode it 3 times already!

Review: This trail is great. Starting at the governors mansion the trail has some hills and sharp turns as long as you go that way. The trail has many off shoots that all pretty much lead to the same area. Once you get to the middle paved road, head up the pavement and take the trail on the right side of the road, this brings many more trails to be ridden that are a bit more technical than the first half and equally fun. Impossible to get lost. Just take your picks on which way.
