Trail Q&A
Rider Questions

Q: Can someone please give me directions from the northway exit 12 to the trial head/parking? -Guest

A: Yes, very easy. Heading North take a right of Exit 12 and stay straight going through 2 round abouts and you will be entering Luthers forest...keep straight through 2 more round abouts and you will be heading into Global Foundries. From here take a right onto Hermes road and you will see the trail head up on the right after a stop sign or two.

Review: I went to Luther Forest today because it has been raining nonstop basically for two weeks. The trails were in excellent shape considering. It has sandy soil. Any other trail in my area would've been a mud bath. Today was the first time riding it without kids. This system definitely has potential. It can be fast. I would've given it a four or five star, however, there are very few items that test your skills (which is great to some and boring to others). I would say it is closer to beginner than intermediate. But the main reason for the lower rating is the trail signage is abysmal. At the beginning you can see some dark purple spray paint on trees but the color is very dark without arrows and hard to see while you're riding and eventually the paint all but disappeared. I was using the topo map and I found myself having to backtrack to get back on the main route several times. Then other times having to stop to figure out which way I was supposed to go. And then eventually I ran into the housing complex that seems to have cut off the trail. Making it all but impossible to finish the loop. Maybe there's another way around that I'm unaware of. And all the recent falling leaves may have hidden some trails that I could not see. Overall I think this could be a fun fast relatively easy mountain bike trail with proper signage or if you are riding with a friend that knows the trail system well. As it stands today it was an enjoyable ride (because all rides are enjoyable) with lots of hiccups and ended with the trail seeming to end. I did follow the topo map and hiked the bike until I could pick up the trail again. Eventually getting to finish.

Review: I'm updating my review. The trails must have been "new" the last time. more mature trails now. A number more technical and fun. I used to avoid Luther Forest because it was so easy, but it seems to have grown into a much more fun single track area after a few years. Still not very technical, but plenty of intermediate

Review: No real markings for trails. But trails were in good shape and well maintained.

Review: This used to be a 5 star trail. The conditions are always great and well maintained. The reason for my low number now is that someone bought a house apparently and the trail is on their property so they have closed off the portion of the trail that connects the two sides. Big disappointment!!!

Review: First time on the Stache 5 (2018). Little bit of a learning curve on the switch backs with wider tires. Once I got into a relatively steady groove I enjoyed this trail system.

Review: God ride for beginners - you can access the bike trail and add miles on . Very nice neighborhoods and outlining area. We went down RT 9 and ate lunch at the Mill- it was great day

Review: Great trail!!! Very smooth and flowy hard pack, with some roots. Some tree obstacles and bridges greet you from time to time but otherwise it's fantastic!!!Although not marked well (purple paint on trees), if you break off there are quick rollers you can play with while finding your way back. And it's not at all busy during the week!!!

Review: Second what Jaystack wrote. A very fun trail, nothing too advanced, has a good flow but signage is rare.
