Mountain Biking Hills Above Creel

***   Add a review
#34 of 96 mountain bike trails in Mexico
#7,983 in the world

This area is the launch point for Copper Canyon, a world class MTB destination. Most riders utilize a guided trip that will typically cover over 110 miles in a week long excursion. The terrain is variable with some granular surface singletrack, slickrock, dirt and gravel roads. Jump on your mountain bike and cycle past unique rock formations, waterfalls, pueblos and cave dwellings. Breathtaking vistas open at every turn on your exhilarating pedal down into the Canyon itself. You will be amongst the Tarahumara Indians who live through out the canyon region and created most of the trails as a means of travel. Copper Canyon is said to be larger than the Grand Canyon and offers elevation differences from 7700' Creel to 1600' Batopilas at the canyon floor.

Getting there
Just head southwest out of town. You'll see trails heading up into the hills and plenty of them, because those trails are the major roads for the vast majority of the local Tarahumara Indians, who walk everywhere on them
