Trail Description
About this trail
Trails are nicely maintained and comfortable fire trails within Tahoe Donner. Do not be fooled by the easy
maps presented, as these rides can get hard in some spots. Combined with altitude and changing weather
conditions, try and always plan ahead. Climb into final portion of Hawk's peak trail is singletrack and technical
and walking may be the best option at high altitude.

Review: Fire road with some loose rock/steep sections until last 300 feet of single track. Final 50' loose rock, not rideable. Top of Hawk's Peak is 7729', not 9000' as previous review states. Pick up trail at the end of Alder Creek Rd. in Tahoe Donner (1/4 mile on dirt road, veer left on to trail blocked by large boulders to stop motor vehicles.) Continue down Hawk's Peak, across ridge to Glacier trail head, then out to pavement (Left down Skislope) and back to Alder Creek Rd. GET trail map at Northwoods Rec Center office or (maybe) trailhead. Cool ride if you are staying/live in Tahoe Donner, otherwise not worth making a "special" trip.
