First of all, you have to ride a mile and a half of chip rock and crushed stone roads to get to the MTB trails, which sucks. I rate that 1 star. It would be better on a gravel bike. The map does show a back parking lot at the end of Ag Trail though, so maybe the locals avoid this boring section?
The actual MTB trails wind through a nice forest. Split Rock trail is brutal though. It's poorly designed with a majority of its descents slowed by skinnies or tight turns just when you should be picking up speed. It's all climbing and very little payoff. Zero flow. I rate it 1 star.
Boulder Loop on the other hand was fun. Lots of punchy climbs and flows descents. Nothing too taxing or difficult, but lots of fun. I rate it 3.5 stars.
Bottom line, drive 20 miles to Camp Camfield, 40 miles to Faye Pickering, or 80 miles to Kickapoo for a more enjoyable ride.
