Getting there
From I-40, Take Exit 103 US-64 toward Morganton/Rutherfordton. Turn RIGHT onto BURKEMONT AVE / US-64(go 0.6mi). Turn LEFT onto US-70 / W FLEMING DR / US-64 BYP. Continue to follow US-64 BYP(go 2.2 mi). Turn LEFT onto N GREEN ST / NC-181. Continue to follow NC-181(go 28.7 mi). Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto US-221 / NC-181(go 2.9 mi). Turn RIGHT onto NEWLAND HWY / US-221(go 0.6 mi). Turn LEFT onto NC-105(go 4.0 mi). Turn LEFT onto TYNECASTLE HWY / NC-184(go 2 mi). Look for "Sugar Mountain" sign(on left) - Turn LEFT on Sugar Mountain Dr. Follow up to the lodge and park. Trail maps are located in a black, marked mailbox at the base of the Flying Mile slope.
