Trail Description
About this trail
Ride along the spillway on some tall grass prairie trail. Easy ridding and no technical challenges . This part is over grown and needs big time maintenance. The trail is hard to follow and not marked very well. Then head up into the woods. The trail get's a little better here. Uphill challenges, nice technical downhill, and sharp turns on dirt, roots, and rocks.

Review: Someone has been fixing this trail up since I was last here and they have done a great job. I couldn't even find half the trail last time. Seems like they need a bit more local interest though. Local bike shops I visited didn't even know it existed.

Review: Rode the trail in March, found that the left turn into blue intermediate was more of an overgrown goat trail and lost it about a quarter mile in. After trying again and staying to the right, I found the main section. It is only a little over a mile and learned that the locals ride it 5 to 10 times to get a ride in. However, I discovered they were building a new section and found it to be quite fun, if a little demanding on the climbs. It adds about 3/4 of a mile to trail, making the whole thing about 2 miles. Although short, it was a lot of fun.

I would suggest parking just South of the trail before you cross the dam. If you park below where the sign is, you will find the climb up the grassy bank to be a rough start.

Review: Awful trail. Don't waste you time. Hike the other trails instead

Review: This trail is in beautiful south central Kansas. There are large rocky bluffs, heavy timber, and tall grass prairie trails. The bluffs on this trail are to steep to ride, so you only go about 1/3 of the way up the hillside. You start off on a overgrown prairie trail that follows the Elk River. The wooded trail is somewhat technical with rocky inclines, nice downhill, and tricky sharp turns. All of this is packed into a small area. The trail could expand up the hill a bit more to make this a extremely great ride. The trail could be marked better to let the riders enjoy the hole ride without having to ride the same trail twice or having to guess your way around the trail.
