Ride along the spillway on some tall grass prairie trail. Easy ridding and no technical challenges . This part is over grown and needs big time maintenance. The trail is hard to follow and not marked very well. Then head up into the woods. The trail get's a little better here. Uphill challenges, nice technical downhill, and sharp turns on dirt, roots, and rocks.

Coming from the north take KS 75 into Independence. Turn right (west) on Taylor Rd. Drive about 2 1/2 Miles to Peter Pan RD. Turn right (north) and drive about 1/4 mile to Rd 4800. Turn left (west) and follow up the hill. Turn right (north) on Table Mound Rd. and follow till you see the Elk City Lake Dam. Once you cross the dam make a right to get to the spillway parking lot. You will see the trail head near the spillway.
