Mountain Biking Double Lakes Trail

This ride is an eight mile loop in the Sam Houston National Forest. It is a easy ride all single-track around the lake and camping area. This is marked a bike trail but you do get some hikers sometimes. The trail is best run counter- clockwise and has some gentle hills and valleys. It is all in the woods and can be fast for more advanced riders( my PR is 45 minutes. If you camp you can make a weekend out of this. I usually make a couple laps in the morning, swim and fish in the afternoon then take another lap before dinner. There are showers and bathrooms and a great swimming area. This is a great place to take the family and begining mountain bikers.

From Houston take I-59 north to Cleveland then take 2025 towards Coldspring look for Double Lake Rec Area on right...or take I-45 north to Willis exit right on 1097 then turn right on 150 until just before Coldspring turn right on 2025 and the entrance is on the left. It is about an hour and a half from Houston.
