WEIKEL ROAD ENTRANCE
I am 46 years old, wife 40-something, daughter 10 and son 8.
We are not extreme sports people, and we are new to mountain biking.
This trip was the kids first time on gravel and dirt.
Our son fell/slid off his bike about 3 times, and got a little cut/bruised. HOWEVER, he loved it. And so did my daughter and wife.
There are many different types of trails here. The first one we did was what I consider the main trail that starts at Weikel Road, and is at the bottom of the canyon, and runs right over the Yakima River about 8-9 times. There are cool wooden bridges that you will cross, and seeing the water is really nice. The ride is very visually stunning, and pretty east. No big hills on this part of the trail. The gravel can make you slide around a bit so be careful. There were a couple times that we walked our bikes, because there were too many large rocks in the trail.
The second day, we did the "Uplands" trail, which is located off of Scenic Road, on top of the canyon. There you will find both single track trails, as well as the main Upland trail, that is somewhat double wide. We had a blast there too.
Highly recommended for all riders...great scenic, great trails...
