Trail Description
About this trail
The trail is a challenge mainly for it's distance. The first 4 or five mile section (riding the trail clockwise) is fairly technical, it then is a nice singletrack with a few short hills. It is very well marked, but bring water and food (none on the trail), the whole loop will take about 3 hours.

Review: The first four mile is really technical. They need to learn that a dried up ditch cannot be a bike trail. The rest of the trail is ok. Bring Mosquito repellent, snacks, and a water pack if you decide to go.

Review: Rode the trail this weekend, just after a light rain the day before. Was going to start at the east landing, but there were two giant spider webs covering the trail entrance, which I figured was due to this entry being less used, and after the huge ones I saw at the pay station I decided to go to the main trail head (south) because there would be more bike traffic/hikers. I would recommend waiting until summer is over to do this trail and when it has been dry for at least a week; there were so many spider webs with giant palm sized black & yellow spiders. Also, miles 1-5 have some ridiculous rooty climbs that are close to impossible to stick when they are wet. Not an enjoyable experience today, will wait until winter time to go back.

Review: Started at south landing which is the first trailhead after entering park. The first 4 miles were very tough...after that rode until mile 8. Good exercise. I'll start on mile 8 when I go back to experience all off it.

Review: This trail is terrable and cool. Some of the bridges are amazing and fun but the trail as a whole is no good. Most of it was intended to get to primitive camping. During the summer, if the trail is dry, you will encounter thousands of spiders and their webs. Rode just a few miles and had to get 8 of them out of my helmet and we are not talking about small spiders either. When the spiders are not around, you are lucky to find the trail dry. There is a section that goes through a dranage ditch atleast six times. Good luck finding it dry. This leads to a suspension bridge you need to cross. It was intended to for hikers and impossible to ride onto and across. Other parts are just swamp and hold water for a long time. It is just not worth the trip.

Review: I have made it from mile 1-10 and miles1-2 are the hardest with steep hill climb. Miles 2-4 are a little easier but not much. From 4-10 its just fun. Having a blast learning these trails.

Review: Fun trail. Started at mile marker 8 and went counter clockwise. Long trail that will give you a little bit of everything. At this time of the year there was a decent amount of mud, at one point there is about 1/4 mile of it. Have fun!

Review: Chicot is a fun, relaxing ride. The trail is not very challenging or technical but more of an endurance trail, easy to get some miles in. The trail is well maintained and well marked.

Review: WARNING: Starting at mile 5 there is a constant barrage of spider webs with palm size spiders every 5-8 yards. I had to walk another 2 miles before reaching an exit with no break from spider webs. Lots of stick throwing and profanity. This seems to only happen during the summer months. During the Winter, this is one of the better Louisiana trails. You've been warned!

Review: Excellent trail. Glad we started at the South Trailhead. The first four miles were pretty tough. Great views and boardwalks. Definitely recommend. Saw 5 armadillos! There are some nice primitive campgrounds along the trail that would be fun to hike or bike to.
