Definitely closer to basic than intermediate, but flows well enough that you can work as hard as you want to. The direction and markings on the trail are well done except at a few spots where it wasn't clear (using trail names instead of marker numbers and the newer sections did not have clear travel directions posted).
There are a lot of connectors and other trail crossings that keep you from getting into a sustained flow, but they are well marked and easy to follow.
Safety wise, it is designed for foot traffic to go opposite bike traffic and there aren't really any blind corners. Also all of the trail intersections are marked with good signage at the trails and as you approach.
