Patterson Trail and Ridge Run Trail equate to approximately 7 1/2 miles. The first 3 1/2 miles are a long, slow, steady climb. After continuing to the right (around the top of this loop), there's a bit more climbing followed by long, fast descents. At the final fork near the bottom, go left for a steep, technical descent back to the trailhead. Tough workout on the way up, but not so much on the way down.
