I basically start out using these only for DH, but as of late started to use them on some of the rocker trails I ride. They have not caused me any issues at all, after the first minute of so I forget I even have them on until It's time to take them off. The elastic straps have not stretched at all and still hold as tight as the day I bought them. I have since retired these pads for the new Race Face Ambush pad only because the pad can be put on and removed with out taking my shoes off. If you are looking a no frills, durable pad the 661 pads are a great choice.

    Pros
    Good protection
    Comfortable
    Relatively Cheap
    Durable

    Cons
Have to remove shoes to take on and off.

These knee pads are amazing. I am a relatively klutsy mountain biker and I do get in some scary falls which is why I thought to invest in good protective gear. I was on the fence on whether or not to purchase the straits or the new 2013 Rage. The rage is supposed to be the updated version of the straits and with that I thought maybe this could mean a significant (upgraded) difference, but, not really. My research had brought me to the conclusion that the straits were better in terms of performance, plus they were on sale for almost half the price on closeout in some stores. No brainer. And I am happy I went for it. These have saved my knees and joints from several falls-- and possibly trips to the hospital. Great pads and awesome buy.

    Pros
Amazing protection, comfortable and hardly noticeable even when pedaling.

    Cons
Can get hot, dirt magnet if you tend to fall a lot like me.

I highly recommend these knee guards. I am using a pair that I brought 2 years ago, and they are still going strong, except for one of the velco straps which finally broke. I like these so much, I purchased a second pair that is waiting in my closet for the spring season!

    Pros
Very comfortable. Actually stays in place while riding longer distances. A quick pull upwards every once in awhile is all that is needed to keep them exactly where I need them. A full coverage type knee guard, meaning that aside from the obvious hard plate around the knee cap, there is alot of padding around the side, top of knee, and bottom of knee (high shin area) that gives some good coverage too. I have crashed several times where these guards have done a great job in protecting my knee. One crash I came down pretty hard directly on the knee cap area and really felt no pain at all. Several other small crashes I have hit the outside padding of the knee guard and it has definitely lessened the blow.

    Cons
Proper cleaning is needed to keep the sweat smell down. As with anything that is worn regularly, they have developed a smell about them, but I dont mind since they are worn outside.
