I love my XT Hollowtech cranks. This is bike #2 in a row that I've used with them. The last bike was a triple that I converted to a 2x. This one is a 2x that I converted to a single. To me, this is where to put your emphasis within your drivetrain. I could probably get by with SLX everything, but I have to have my XT cranks and BB. Love the feel, love the durability as these are what usually get bashed on logs, rocks and whatever else I can't get out of the way of on the trail. I've never had an issue nor a complaint.
If you have the $$$, make the purchase. You won't regret this one. XT stuff is the non-sponsored mtber's go to gear for good reason. It's nice but not so nice you need a logo on your back to afford it.
Pros Stiff and relatively light for a 3 ring crankset. Crankarms take a beating and walk away with minor nicks. The middle ring lasts a LONG time.
Cons Chainrings are expensive to replace and the granny wears quickly.
This is a SWEET crankset that is deceptively light and stiff. Couple it with an XT derailleur up front and you will never worry about shifting again.
Pros Light. Replaceable cogs. come in a 48 tooth and 44 tooth version. External cups for BB are easy to replace. Middle ring is made of a stronger steel composite for durability. STIFF.
Great set of cranks with no problems after one very hard ridden season. I usually don't go with shimano but I can't complain about this set of cranks. Good pricepoint.
