These are fine, but if you can spring for an XT set they're well worth it. I found that SLX needed a bit more paying attention to than XT in terms of maintenance, and didn't have the same feel of quality; a very on-off feel

    Low maintenance, easy to use

Spongy feel at first, lack of modulation

Cost effective upgrade from cable brakes- miles ahead of rim brakes.

Ease of install, great braking feel!

    No complaints

I didn't know that there was that great of difference in stopping power from mechanical and hydraulic brakes on a mountain bike. I test drove a Cannondale Trigger and locked the tires up every time I hit the brakes. This prompted me to check into the upgrade. I went to Wheelsports and got the hook from Bulldog78 . I got these brakes for a great price and put them on myself. These brakes have more than enough stopping power for the riding I do. I have put a little over 40 miles on them and they have been the quietest brakes I have owned. I will follow up on these brakes after I have done some more miles. . I would recommend these brakes to anyone wanting to upgrade from mechanical brakes.

Great stopping power, look nice, easy to install, and almost weighs the same as my mechanical brakes.

I say no cons. As with any other Shimano product that I've used, you go through the progression of SX/SLX to XT to XTR. As you go up, you get a little better performance, a little lighter and a little to a lot more money. You decide what's important to you. In brakes, I am more than happy with the performance of these. The gains in weight and/or performance are not worth the increase in price...for me anyway. But, with the XT versions being on sale recently for $100 ea, that might be a difference maker. Not enough for me to rip and replace these though.

    great feel
    nice stopping power
    weight isn't too bad either
