Good reliable fork. The best thing about these is that they are so easy to adjust rebound and travel. It is not made for huge air or big drops. Great XC shock that is rugged and capable for trail use. (This is a much better shock after some inexpensive upgrades. See "Updates" below).
**Updates** Bumped up rating to 4 after upgrading to the recommended stiffer spring for my 215 Lbs rider weight with gear. It was a very simple installation. This shock is no longer under-gunned as previously listed on the "Cons" section. It also does not blow through the travel on bigger hits any more.
I also upgraded this fork by adding a MoCo Damper with lockout (Rock Shox Argyle adjustable Motion Control Compression Damper). It was only $60, and it was super easy to install. WOW!! This was a huge upgrade! This added adjustable compression damping, adjustable floodgate control (just like a pro-pedal), and a lock-out. No more pedal-bob for ultra-efficient climbing, no more brake dive, and it can handle small drops much better. It is also much more composed when hoping logs and handling rougher bumpy terrain. This completely transformed the fork's capabilities.
Pros Inexpensive, easy to adjust.
Cons Springs are a bit under-gunned (fixed with stiffer spring), heavy.
I love these forks. I have been riding them XC for around 5 months and they have been great. I am so glad i got them and thanks to ISO they were rebuilt to perfection. Thanks Drake
Overall a well performing fork. I got a bad fork right from the get go. Rock Shox stands behind their products and took care of it no questions asked. I've been riding it hard for 20+ miles a week for the last 3 months and it's holding up great. I would absolutely recommend this fork for someone on a budget.
Pros Good price, light weight, lockout, performs well for the money, excellent warranty.
Cons Had to have it rebuilt after the first ride. The fork would stick in the fully bottomed out position. Makes some squishy noises when it rebounds.
Will stick with air springs from now on. The fork is fine-handles my 220lbs with no problem. It was a fantastic upgrade: the bike climbs 10 times better than before. The lockout is solid but I don't use it. No better deal for the money. PS: A year and 500 miles later I still love this fork. I use it for a ride range of trails and it works great. No problems to date. PS: two years and well over 1500 miles later, I love this thing to death. Great fork.
Pros Strong, lightweight, firm lockout, great paint job.
