Rider questions

Q: You can order one to fit based on the width between your crank bolts. A regular crank arm should be no problem
A: Yes, order your chainring by the bolt pattern of your crank. A lot of cranks are 4-bolt 104. Please check your specific crank specs though!

Q: can i use the chain ring in normal crank??
A: You can order one to fit based on the width between your crank bolts. A regular crank arm should be no problem

I converted my 2008 Specialized Rockhopper to a 1x8. before this I was running a raceface bashguard with a 36T and a 22T in the front. I chose 30T configuration because it fell closest to the middle of that range. I'm happier with my setup now than before. But if I had to do it over, I would go for the 32T, or something larger with a wider range cassette (JGbike makes a wide ratio 8-speed now). The setup works great on singletrack. But I quickly maxes out on pavement.

    Pros
    Never drops a chain
    Looks awesome
    Fits with the Raceface bashguard
    Super durable

    Cons
    Sort of pricey

Awesome affordable upgrade compared to going to an expensive sram 1x11. Worth it if you want a simplified challenge and lighter weight

    Pros
Super friggin light. Great way to trim weight onyour drivetrain by going to a 1x. Makes your bike look amazing by ordering to match paint color. Sturdy 6061 aluminum. Easy changeout. Awesome chain retention.

    Cons
Know what you are getting into. If you can handle climbs easily on your middle ring then do it. If intense climbs get you winded work on your cardio first before doing this upgrade.

I am using this on my SS. It mates up well with my 9 spd chain. I found a great deal on mine and has served me well. No signs of wear after nearly a year. Thumbs up !!

    Cons
can not run a 1/2 link

This was my choice for converting my drivetrain to 1x10. For about 40 bucks (shop around) i got the 32T ring. It's a very light piece, with quality machine work. The 32T would not work on my Shimano M785 crank due to clearance, so i ended up using some 2mm spacers. If you go as low as the 30T, the spacing feature is machined into the ring. Really grips the chain.

    Pros
Lightweight. Affordable. 104BCD. Works with 9/10/11 speed.

    Cons
32T didn't offer much clearance on XT M785 crankset, possible on other 2x10 cranks.

Running a 30t version of this ring on a 1x10 setup with a rear clutch-locking dérailleur eliminated the need for any chain guide. I've ridden over 20 times and haven't had a chain drop once.

    Pros
    - Light
    - Durable
    - Holds onto the chain like super glue does to your skin

I run a 32T on my Rune without any chain guide at all. I spent a full day running laps at my local lift assist resort without dropping a single chain. I do run a type 2 rear derailleur as well. Honestly if you guys have not gone to a single ring set up you are missing out. The simplicity and ease of not having to run a front derailleur is like nothing else. Probably one of the best innovations to hit MTB in years.

    Pros
    Simple
    Many colors
Another quality product from Race Face.
    Weight savings

    Cons
    none

If you want a cheap, attractive 1x ring, you can't beat Race Face NW ring.

    Pros
Holds the chain without a chain guide or retention system. Went 1x9 with no clutch derailleur or chain guide. Went 1000 miles without a dropped chain.

    Cons
Other than the wear I can't think of any

Cheap and effective, buy it. On sale on amazon and worth every penny. I got the 30t and run it with my 10 speed 36-11 cassette and it works great.

    Pros
Lightweight, nice style, does not drop chains, what else do you need.

    Cons
Anodizing started wearing after first ride, I don't care, but some might.

I picked up the Race Face 30T Narrow Wide chainring to compliment my OneUp components conversion on my rear cassette. I love how well it grabs the chain. Ran it for a few rides with a non-clutched derailer and it worked fine. Changed out to a Sram type 2 for less chain slap. Simply works. Install was a breeze. Worth the money in my opinion. The 30T is typically a little costlier than the other sizes.

    Pros
    Clean look.
    No dropped chains.
    1x10 simplicity

    Cons
    price

This is a great chainring for those who want to try a 1x drivetrain. A rear derailleur with a clutch is reccomended or a chainstay may be needed. I have heard of people using them with clutch-less mechs but your chances of dropping a chain go way up. I personally haven't had a single issue with my 32 tooth ring. It looks awesome is dependable and wasn't a wallet breaker. It also cut about 3 pounds off my bike!!!!

    Pros
Light Weight, No dropped chains, Durable, Great price, easy install

    Cons
    None yet

Definitely recommend this if you're thinking about switching to a 1X?

    Pros
Grips the chain surprisingly well, I would always drop my chain but have yet to drop my chain using this ring. Running a 34t ring on an XT crank with no issues
