No more derailleurs, no more chain guides, and no more mess. The iT1 is internally geared by an 8 speed Shimano Nexus hub. Quick shifting and built like a tank this bike is ready to rip. With the iT1 gravity is your friend, home at any bike park or gravity oriented trail.

The iT1 is a very stable bike (weight may be the leading factor) because it centers most of its mass around the BB area. You can easily throw it into corners or pop it off a lip.

Although the Nexus hub is what makes it so special, it is also its downfall and reasons behind its limited production run and popularity. In short the Nexus just doesn't live up to the demands a modern freeride bike should.

Lastly I expected a lot better build from a bike that was priced so high. The only I would recommend the GT iT1 is if you want a chance to own MTB history.

    Pros
    - Pedals incredibly well for a 9" travel bike
    - Unique
    - Piece of MTB history
    - Built like a tank
    - Instant shifting ability

    Cons
    - Grip shift
    - Weight
    - Chainline has to be perfect, takes some time to setup
    - Stock build is garbage
    - Maintenance
    - Shifting could be faster
    - Nexus hub not up to freeriding
