I really like these shoes. After Knee surgery I switched to flat pedals and five-tens. Due to the grip of the shoes, my performance has exceeded clipless and I will remain in flats. As far as marking, make sure you purchase a bottle of goo-gone to clean up your bike.

    Pros
    Great grip, comfortable

    Cons
Leave black marks on chain stays

Love these shoes, bit the bullet and bought a pair of these and don't regret it. I also put a pair of bungee type lock laces on them and don't have to worry about shoe laces anymore. Stick to platforms very well.

    look good

    Cons

The toe-box is pretty wide and comfy and they perform great, but mine started forming holes at the toe, probably because in general I'm pretty rough with my shoes, so I don't hold it against them.

    Pros
Great grip, awesome look, super comfy

    Cons
Started to wear through after about 1 year

I tried clips pedals, and that was usually a disaster. 5.10 changed my mind about Flat pedals forever. I will never clip in with a pair of elf shoes ever again on any of my bikes. these things grip almost too well until they are broken in. once the sole starts to get worn out i wear them for any other type of riding, and buy a new pair for the mountain bike. anyone hesitating on going flat needs to take the plunge and get some 5.10's. I guarantee you will never look back

    Pros
    Best grip for flat pedals
    stiff enough sole for pedaling
    Look like a skate shoe

    Cons
    Never

I honestly couldn't think of a better shoe to wear with flats. These stick to just, well probably everything, paired with some flats with pins and you'll be more than happy. I ditched my clips for these and the bite is incredible!

    Pros
Comfortable, Stick great!, great fit, shock absorption, and downright best shoe for riding flats.

    Cons
    none

I love these shoes. I bought them after using fiveten impacts (hightop) and I like these a lot more. The lowtop design provides free ankle movement which is really important to me on downhill sections. And they look good.

    Pros
    Comfortable, sticky, durable, functional

    Cons
    almost TOO sticky

My Freeriders are the most comfortable shoes I own. Although they're heavy, protective, and supportive, they always keep my feet cool. It's doubly reassuring knowing they won't slip, but you can always take them off the pedals when necessary. I've never had the laces loosen or snag during a ride. I'd wear them everywhere, if they were better looking (like the new 2013 models) and not always covered with dirt.

    Pros
    -Comfortable
    -Grippy
    -Secure Laces

    Cons
    -Heavy
    -Bulky looking
