A good entry level hydraulic brake. Probably not the most powerful or lightest but they do the job. Ive had mine for almost 4 years now and they still work fine.

    Not worth it, unfortunately.

    Pros
    they brake allright

    Cons
    - hard to bleed
    - the back brake froze up on my after about 1 year LBS bled and cleaned them. 6 months later, same thing. I bought the avid professional bleed kit, bled them myself - 3 weeks later, lock up again. Bled again, this time talking to LBS, watching online videos, ensuring i am doing everything right, but they lock up again. I'll be replacing them soon.

I recommend this to anyone that's looking for good budget hydraulic brakes. The elixir 1 is good for the price about $74 for a front or back set and about $120 for both including cables and bleed kits isn't bad at all.

    Pros
Good price and reliable stopping power.

    Cons
Can get squeaky but this does not affect performance. A little annoying though.

I cant see upgrading anytime soon.

    Pros
Great brakes considering it was only $90 for front and rear, as well as rotors. I went from mechanical brakes to Avid, and what a difference. They stop on a dime in dirt or road.

    Cons
    A little noise at times.

Good entry level hydro brakes. They tend to be loud as with most avids, but they still work well. Much better stopping power than mechanicals.

    Pros
    stopping power, price

    Cons
    noise, not the best modulation
