Model/Year: 29er Cobalt 2

Pros: Dont they look pretty?
Lightweight, tubeless off the bat.

Cons: Unpublished weight limit, tensioning/truing really needs to be done back at the factory.
hub body gets notched from cassettes easily.
People are always asking about the wheels as if you've been mounting a Kardashian.

Recommendation: Great XC wheels if you are under 175 LBS (unpublished limit). I use these on a Orbea Alma 29er Carb and being on a hardtail, usually take a different line. At 220LBS, I got many miles of wobble free use. I lent them to another rider, yes, a dumbass move, consider he was a budget rider and trashed everything. He was smaller than me, and a week later handed me a trashed set of wheels. I bought new rims, spokes had them rebuilt at LBS, only for them to come out of true in a matter of a few miles each time. Eventually elevated it to CB for Warranty. They acknowledged that I exceeded their weight limit (if it was printed somewhere I would have not bought them), so they upgraded me (for a not so nominal fee) to Iodines, the All Mountain design of the Cobalt.
Flawless now.

Pros: No penetrations through the rim
Stiff
Good looking
Strong spokes

Cons: Hard to find spare spokes in bike shops

Recommendation: Nice set of wheels that require no rim stip to go tubless. I have had a set on my Pivot Mach 4 for over two seasons with no issues at all. Very stiff wheels compared to some other XC models.

Pros: Super strong and true right out of the box. Fresh styling turns heads on the trail. Split skewers are kinda cool.

Cons: Noisy freewheel hub can be annoying after a long time coasting. Expensive.

Recommendation: These wheels are tight. Lightweight but still super stiff and strong, even when jumping.
