Pros: Makes straight cuts every time

Cons: Will eventually wear out
Can compress material and cause problematic lumps
Doesn't cut 1.5 inch

Recommendation: Although you might think a pipe cutter is great for cutting steerer tubes and seat tubes, It really isn't. If you aren't super careful, it will compress the material causing uneven spot which will need to be filed down in order to fit properly. Only use if it is an emergency.

Pros: - heavy duty
- deburring tool built in
- perfect size for cutting handlebars
- makes clean, fast, square cuts
- inexpensive

Cons: - still not sure it if would work on all bars with big tapers.

Recommendation: I have used this a couple times now to cut 2 sets of bars. The cuts are nice and clean with no shavings or splinters and was very easy to get accurate. It is the perfect size to allow you to spin the tool around the bars while you turn the knob to dig the blade deeper.
