Maxxis Maxxis Minion DHF 29 x 2.5 tires

April 2, 2018
Model/Year: 27.5 / 2018

Pros: Great grip Tough sidewalls Easy tubeless setup

Cons: HEAVY! ~ 1000 grams Slower rolling

Recommendation: I have the Maxxis Minion DHF 27.5x2.5" EXO, WT, TLR, and they are great tires. Traction is not a problem at all with these.

Model/Year: 2015 Minion DHF 29 x 2.5 2 ply

Pros: Great traction with added width to take advantage of wider wheels. Running tubeless with no flats to date, fluctuating between 18-26 psi depending on terrain and conditions.

Cons: Hard time choosing between these and the new SE5 2.5, both offer great traction, thick sidewalls, mostly comes down to which is on sale

Recommendation: I am running the 2 ply that msrp for $95 that weighs in around 1200 grams. There is also a single ply for around $65 that weighs around 1000 grams that would compare to an xr5 if they make one in a 2.5 size, I have only seen se5 2.5's..
