Pros: Sheds heat and mud reasonably well. Cheap to replace. Little brake feedback.

Cons: Heavy compared to other options.

Recommendation: These come stock with old Hayes Strokers. Good performing brake rotor for a stock set. Keep them clean and you won't have any issues.

Pros: - lightweight
- very druable
- fairly quiet
- fast stopping

Cons: - not suited for downhill

Recommendation: I have had these rotors on my Giant Anthem for about 4 years now. I abuse this bike and all it's component like its no ones buisiness. I have even gotten lubricant on these rotors and had to clean them very well and they still opperate flawlessly. When these rotors finnally give out on me I will have no issue replacing them with the same rotor again!

Pros: Stop much better than rim brakes

Cons: Can squeal if pads start to rub on rotors while moving
May help induce back tire to swap positions with front tire by vaulting up and over rider

Recommendation: Your basic 160mm brake rotor. These will handle any XC riding you may throw at it. Downhill or any riding where you may be dragging the brakes often may require larger rotors.
