Pros: These have been, hands down (for me at least), the best mountain bike shoes I've ever owned. Stiff, yet enough movement for hike a bike. A "real" tread, again, to hike with. Very, very tough... protects and resists rocks, thorns, etc., with ease. SPD are completely recessed, so walking is "normal". They are laced, which in my opinion, is better than other cinching options. Stay tight, and make them adjustable for any foot. And, they came in wide width!!! It seems all other bike shoe makers assume everyone has narrow feet. What's up with that? I've owned two pair of these, which together have provided me with many years of use. I do have lighter shoes (Pearl Izumi X-Alp) for less technical ride on real hot days (100 ), but even though I wear them less, I go through those at least 3 to 1 compared to the Roams. No exaggeration! And, they don't look Aladdin's slippers (like most bike shoes) :)

Cons: No longer available unless you find a close out /liquidation sale. Might be too heavy for weight worriers.

Recommendation: For anyone that needs a tough "real" mountain bike shoe that will hold up to rough technical rides with the potential of hitting hard objects and if hiking a bike may be a become necessity.
