Pros: Good starter bike

Cons: Won't hold up to real mountain bike trails

Recommendation: I bought this bike for my 8 year old son when we first got into mountain biking. My son is now turning 10 in a week and I'm having to upgrade his bike. Now to be far my son rides this bike hard, we have replaced the cassette and the shifter. The cassette wore out in 6 months. He rides real single trails with me and the bike just ain't made for that abuse. But, if your kid isn't going to ride hard the bike would probably be great.

Pros: Tough and priced well

Cons: Cheap components and pinch brakes

Recommendation: I bought each of my two children one this past Christmas. My son rode his off into a 7' ditch on our first ride. He slammed pretty hard and broke the shifter and front brake. The bike shop that I bought them from did the labor at no cost to repair the bike and also fixed the brakes for free. I upgraded the shifters to rapid shifter instead of the twist shifters. I just wish I had a bike this tough when I was a kid. Upgrades only cost me $40.

Model/Year: Precaliber 24/2017

Pros: Great fit for my daughter who's 50 inches tall and 50LB's Easy to shift gears for a child Able to handle moderate Trail riding

Cons: Brakes aren't great This particular model doesn't come with front suspension.

Recommendation: Great for the time's my daughters first mountain bike. I'm already wishing I would have spent a little more to get some upgraded features. Next step may be an adult 13 frame with hydraulic disc since she's pretty serious about hitting the trails. Overall, a nice bike for a small child
