Model/Year: 2011

Pros: Smooth shifting when it works.

Cons: Weak

Recommendation: Came on my Fuel Ex 8. I've blown two of these apart in a 8 month period. Great thing is Shimano warranties their parts for 2 years, they sent me an XT replacement and the XT has been solid for over a year! Would not recommend.

Pros: Smooth shifting and lower profile.

Cons: none

Recommendation: Bought as replacement when my old one was bent on a ride. Haven't had any problems with it since. Eventually upgraded the crankset to SLX also.

Pros: Seamless shifting.
Low profile.
Budget Price.

Cons: Nothing.

Recommendation: Came on my FuelEx8. Compares favourably with the after market XT i put on my hardtail! Shifts sweeter than honey, that is why so many manufacturers are using this to keep their build costs down. Highly recommended.
