Model/Year: 2014

Pros: These brakes are very good. Four stars for a mechanical system...very easy to adjust.

Cons: -cheap

Model/Year: 2013

Pros: -Hydraulic disc brakes
-Great stopping power
-Quick and very responsive

Recommendation: These disc brakes came with my Giant Talon 27.5 4. They work great on 27.5" wheels. They have awesome stopping power, and can stop on a dime. They are very responsive and always perform well. Definitely recommend them.

Model/Year: 2011

Pros: Good power (on a 26er), simple, easy to adjust and work on, inexpensive.

Cons: Not much modulation, noisy, rotors a bit heavy.

Recommendation: I put over 1000 miles on a bike that had these and they did the job. They had plenty of stopping power and were pretty reliable. They did need adjustment every once in a while but it didn't help that I had my front wheel out A LOT.

I would definitely roll these over V-brakes. However I don't think they have enough power for 29ers...at least on the one 29er I rode that had them.

Model/Year: 2013

Pros: They came as standard equipment on my bike.

Cons: None as of yet

Recommendation: These brakes came as standard equipment on my 2013 Trek Marlin and so far to date I have not had any problem with them. I have riden a few other bike with hydros and there is no comparison, but these have never failed to bring me to a halt in a timely manner! I found that the adjustment was very staight foward, but if they are just a bit out of adjustment they are extremley loud. So far I have over 500 miles on them with no failure and the pads look to have plenty of life left in them.

Pros: - inexpensive
- its disk breaks!
- nice for entry level gear
- easy to adjust

Cons: - cheap
- caliper doesn't pinch rotor it pushes and pinches
- easy to maintain

Recommendation: These brakes work great for casual or beginning riders. They are affordable and give you the stopping power of disk brakes at an affordable price.

that being said they are cheap brakes which means when they break it doesn't break yer heart to replace them.

Model/Year: 2012

Pros: -Cheap
-Decent performance

Cons: -Noisy
-Hard to adjust

Recommendation: These came stock on my Trek Marlin and they held up pretty well. They were noisy and needed adjustments here and there, but that's to be expected from a cheap entry level mechanical disc brake setup.

Pros: Works very well for me, and has good stopping power.

Cons: Squeaks a lot, especially the front.

January 13, 2012
Pros: cheap, works well, durable.

Cons: heats up fast and squeaks

Recommendation: Come stock on my bike. The front brake has never failed me; however, the back brake was begining to have serious issues with stopping power. Great mechanical brake when they operating correctly.

Pros: Performed decently.

Cons: Not super light, performance could have been better.

Recommendation: Not too bad for the money.
