Pros: Stopping power. Simple design. Easy to bleed. Flip flop lever design. Beautiful machine work.

Cons: Lever can interfere with shift lever. Difficult to align.

Recommendation: Hope M4s remind me of motorcycle brakes. This masterpiece of machine work has amazing stopping power. Bleeding was very simple; top up fluid, a few pumps and you're done. They take some practice to align, you really have to have a good eye to align the caliper with the rotor. The tech lever is a bit bulky and will interfere with some shifters. If they were a bit cheaper i would have picked the Hope M4 Race over the Shimano brakes i ended up with.

Pros: Light weight for the stopping power, beautiful very well made.

Cons: None

Recommendation: Hope makes the best brakes. Had new xt, saint and these and they are the best by a large margin. Not as expensive if you ship around. Got them for $30 more than the new Xt.

Model/Year: 2009

Pros: Beautiful machining, solid one piece calipers make for a very solid feel. Excellent modulation.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Recommendation: Functional bling! No regrets spending the money on these.

Model/Year: 2011

Pros: One finger stopping, modulation, adjustability, matchmaker compatibility, pretty.

Cons: Cons?

Recommendation: I have had these for over a year on my Lenz Sport Leviathan 4.0. Sure, they may be a bit overkill for a bike like that, but when you're on a fast descent on mile 45 of a 50 mile ride, they sure do work nice!
