Model/Year: K2 Zed 4.9

Pros: Excellent Beginner Bike

Cons: None

Recommendation: Great intro bike, purchased mine for $400USD, some components could be better but can't expect much for a $400 bike.

Model/Year: 2013 Zed 4.9

Pros: Good Entry Level Bike
Good Price

Cons: None

Recommendation: Good for beginners, but could use some upgrades. Ex. brakes, tires, etc.

Model/Year: Zed 3.0/Unknown

Pros: Frame, saddle

Cons: brakes, fork, grips, shifters, rims

Recommendation: I bought this bike years ago used. It was a K2 "Nomad" 3.0. Apparently, K2 sold Zed 3.0 frames to stores like Dick's and REI. Then put crappy components on them. It is still a K2 Zed 3.0 frame though. The frame is great and geometry fits well. It is a great bike to start with and upgrade as you grow into the sport of mountain biking. I still have mine and use it quite often.

Model/Year: 2006 Zed 3.0

Pros: Frame and Shifters

Cons: Drive-train was a bit lacking...

Recommendation: My Zed 3.0 was about 6 years old... rebuilt the bike from the ground up around the frame. The frame was the best thing about the bike. Didn't go crazy trying to shave weight, kept everything aluminum. Just upgraded all parts and pieces, the bike now rocks.

Pros: Smooth ride, shifting is very smooth, brakes are ok, could use some mods..still good for a hardtail

Cons: Thin grips.

Recommendation: Good buy for people who want to ride for fun. I dont recommend large drops for this bike.. good overall bike.

Pros: fun bike, easy wheelies and stoppies. brakes are ok... surprisingly strong frame (survived an 8 foot drop and the horrific crash after : D)

Cons: rims bend. better derailuers would help. stock grips encourage cramping... although strong, the frame flexes a bit

Recommendation: save and buy something better

Cons: Sizing is odd. Medium was too small, large just a smidge too big.

Recommendation: Awesome bike for first time riders! Handles well, great brakes, fork gives cushy ride over not-so-cushy terrain.
