This is a solid entry level bike rack for a car or small SUV. It fits most bikes fairly well and set up is reasonably quick. Your bike mounts by the use top tube (there are "cups" with straps to hold the bike) and that's basically all you do to secure your bike, I personally use the slack from the main straps attaching the rack to the trunk of my car to secure the front wheel.

There are six straps total. Two for the top of the trunk/hatch, Two for the bottom and one for each side. There's a handy checklist on the back of the box (and I recall on the Allen website) to confirm if this will work with your vehicle. They even have a video to detail how the rack should attach, and how to load your bike. It's here:

Here's where the not-so-great begins. Your front wheel is free to swing about all of creation. It's the reason I use the extra length of the straps to secure the front wheel. Another negative is this rack can be challenging with smaller bikes - specifically if you want to take your budding MTBer out with you. This carrier is designed for adult sized bikes in my estimation. Challenges for kids bikes come from the smaller frame . . . especially if the small frame has suspension in the rear and/or it's a girl specific bike (because of the top tube bend.) I can get a girls bike on there; no such luck w/ any kids bike that has a rear "shock" (we're talking 20" bike for reference)

Still, as an entry level bike carrier, it's a solid purchase. I'd give it 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up.

    Pros
Affordable, solid, quick setup, fits most bikes, solid construction, works with a wide variety of vehicles.

    Cons
Can be challenging for kids bikes due to size, fairly basic, front wheel is free to swing around.
