The "Tinker Classic", named in honor of David "Tinker" Juarez, the legendary Professional Mountain Biker whose prolific winning career includes 7 National Championship titles as well as representing the U.S.A. 3 times in the Olympics. Tinker was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 2001 and the BMX Hall of Fame in 1993.
The race offers a 100 K course with an open cash purse of $3000 and a 60K Sport class course.
The race features classic mountain biking with steep climbs, rocky descents and fast straight-a-ways. A portion of the 100K course goes through Death Valley National Park .
The race is supported by Barrick, Cannonadale, Magura, Club ride, Las Vegas Cyclery, MC Gee's Bike Shop and Odie Grips.
