Mountain biking in Nelson dates back 30 years to when the Nelson Mountain Bike Club was first formed.
Today we have over 3500 members and manage over 150km of some of the very best hand-made trails in the world, including the Wairoa Gorge Bike Park.
One of our cornerstone events on the Nelson Mountain Bike Club ("NMTBC") race calendar has been "The Mammoth". It's an event that has always been about big hills, big descents and many hours in the saddle.
It started as a cross-country event and over time became our two day, eight stage mega enduro that attracted riders from around the world.
Last year NMTBC decided to change things up and add more of a challenge to the event so, a one day, nine stage 'Mammoth' race was introduced to the riders. Because we like to keep things fresh and interesting, we have a brand new course for riders this coming year. If you have ridden Mammoth in the past, you are in for a new challenge!
