Location: Sanford, North Carolina, United States
Trail Type: Singletrack
From Greensboro, take 421 S. to Sanford. From Raleigh take US 1 to 421 S. From intersection of US 1 and 421, take 421 S 1.2 miles into town. Go left onto Carthage St. (turns into Charlotte St.). Go about 1.4 miles - veer right at BP station onto San Lee Dr. Go 2.0 miles and turn right onto Pumping Station road. Go 0.6 miles - entrance to San Lee Park on the right. Take left fork at park up the hill to parking area. Ride starts on the gravel road at the edge of the parking lot. Go on gravel road, take the right fork and you will see a sign for the trails, along with a sign-in sheet.
This trail has a lot of elevation change throughout. There are 3 major stream crossings and after each, the trail goes up a gut busting hill. There are lots of switchbacks on this heavily wooded trail. Pretty bumpy - roots and rocks all around. This trail is very similar to Hobby Park in Winston-Salem (although the hills are not as extreme). A semi-technical ride with a lot of singletrack.
