Pros
Great Components, Brain to lock-out the rear shock, 29er DT Swiss wheels, Command Post sounds like a sales job, but I'd never ride w/o one.

Cons
A bit heavy, the Oakland Raider color scheme on the 2011 Expert :-)

Strong Buy - Alloy over Carbon, 29er over 26, not much needs replacing

Pros
Fast responsive, no pedal bob on steep uphill, able to take drops and climbs equally well, Love the lock out capability so that I can hard tail on smoother trails.

Cons
low frame causes pedal strikes, brake squeal

I bought this bike new after riding a Haro HT for a year and the difference of 10 lbs lighter and the full suspension on rocky rooty trails was unbelievable. I test road Trek Fuel 8 befor I fell in love with the Stumpy. I just wish the frame was a couple inches higher. I have been spilled because of pedal strikes on small rocks and roots on flat ground. Overall the bomb though.

Pros
Good feel, easy to control. Plenty of travel for my riding style.

Cons
Color, but hey for the price I got it can't complain. Brakes do squeel alot, but still gettin used to them

Great bike for the money. Haven't noticed any glaring issues and this replaced my ten year old Spec. Stumpy FSR XC Pro, with all XTR comps. so that says something!

Pros
Excellent trail bike. Decent climber if you lock the shock, and and a stable downhill machine. Ride mostly technical single track and have no complaints about handling. Feels firm, but in a good way. Gives you confidence that the bike can take the hard roots and rocks without coming apart.

Cons
Rear disk brake emits a squealing sound from time to time. Seat is brutal, and first thing I replaced. Oddly, Specialized runs the rear cables under the bottom bracket and did not tie them together, at least not on my bike. As a result my outer chain ring chewed through my derailleur cable and I had to replace that. Grips are also tiring on the hands/fingers, especially on any extended downhills.

Minor issues noted above. I find it still to be a great ride for the money. Short distance single track or long hauls all fun on this bike. Looks great, good weight, fun to ride.

Everything. Light, great climber. Still handles downhills.

Front fork is amazing. On the fly rear suspension switch is fairly easy to use.

Pros
Great handling and response. Minimal pedal bob with the ability to switch rear shock to climb mode easily.

Handles abuse very well. Broken some spokes, but that was due to wrecks or downed tree limbs.

Cons
Seat is not the most comfortable.

Review
No regrets. Got a great deal on mine. Came from a crappy Sette full suspension and upgraded to this. Completely changed my ride for the better.

Cons
rear wheel and 4 spoke repairs, disc sensitivity

this bike has been beat up for over 100 or so rides. What I put the bike thru, it still behaves like it is is brand new.

Pros
A quick, snappy ride, and great balance- it will take sudden, hard climbs without slipping the rear wheel or lifting off. I occasionally ride a Trek Fuel 7, and by comparison, the Trek is an SUV, the Stumpjumper is a sports car. Precision handling, but a rougher ride. A sexy-looking bike. I have ridden this bike for three years in Moab, Fruita, and the Keystone bike park's intermediate runs, and have never, in three years, had a flat or broken any components except for a shifter in a crash...and I've ridden it hard, endo'd, wrapped the handlebars around trees. I am beginning to think this bike really is bulletproof. And did I mention sexy-looking?

Cons
I'm short. the seat post does not go down very far. I ride it at the lowest setting, but need to get it cut down so i can set it a little lower on a fast downhill. Also, while I like the quick response of the horizontal shock, it is hard to fit on a bike rack. And the adjustment lever on the shock flips really easily, I have to reach down mid-ride to make sure it is still in the "open" position, because I occasionally find myself riding a hardtail, which is hard on the pivot points. And after twenty miles, the seat is killing me.

Someone who wants to go fast, and gains and loses a lot of elevation in a ride is gonna love this bike.

Pros
wow..I really dig this bike,it is great and it has helped me to push my limits a rider.

Cons
the one and only complaint that I have is that the tires that come stock on the bike are "Sworks The Captain 26x2.0 " and they are a little to lightweight. they pick up any tiny thorns on the trail...aside form that they get awesome traction.

Pros
Put it this way, even if I had an unlimited budget, I would still own this bike. For my style of riding it does everything right. From a quick early morning sprint down the local rocky, rutted singletrack with mild drops, to all day cross country style epic adventures, this bike eats it all up. The brakes are incredable, the ratio of wieght to strength seems to be spot on, and it looks great!

Cons
THAT BLOODY SEAT. Horrible. Put up with it for months thinking my butt would harden up, but replaced it with a WTB Pure V (great seat), when wearing nicks plus MTB pant to double up with the padding still wouldn`t stop the pain. My only other gripe is the Triad shock, works reat only the rebound adjustment does nothing. Its either super slow or super fast, no in between. In Australia, I`ve been told that Dirt Works can fix it but at a cost. Having said all that , while out on the trail, I don`t notice any issue with the shock at all.

This bike would suit any rider wanting a top quality deul suspension mountain bike that will cover a very wide range of riding styles and terrains. After owning this bike for just over a year now it has proved almost bomb proof, needing only basic maintainance ie. washing and lubing, to keep it top condition. I have never had any problems with this bike.

Pros
Everything. What I like best is the comfy ride of the full suspension. After switching from a hardtail, this feels like I am riding a dirtbike that you don't have to pedal.

Cons
Mounting to a rack if the box of my truck is full.

Got for a killer $1750. Could not pass up the opportunity. Not one regret, you won't have one either.

Pros
The geometry provides a very gripped ride as you tear down S turns in trails or around on the pavement. The Lockout/pro-pedal featured on the fox triad in the back and the lockout on RL fork in the front is ideal to adjust for the type of riding you are doing. Hence the 'all mountain phrase'. The components work great together, the seat is even okay.

Cons
The tires have worn out on me pretty fast. I've been riding up in the Annadel State Park in Sonoma and the tires have started to lose the bite the came with, but they performed better than I expected after reading other reviews of the bike before I bought mine. The back derailleur hanger is easy to bend if you crash/drop the bike so watch that. Replace the stock grips and your hands won't fatigue on the downhills, I'm still trying to decide if I like click in pedals over platform ones.

Review
This bike is great. I got mine for $1800.00 at Sharp Bicycles off on hwy 65. It weighs 28.5 pounds, thats pretty damn light, that combined with the pro-pedal or lockout makes the long climbs easy to push though. The breaks 'gobble' a little bit but they work damn good (huge rotor in the front compared to a lot of other bikes). Seat is super light and not as bad as you would predict on trail. Great for downhills, long xc rides, climbs and descends well, breaks are strong components are solid. X.9 der is great.

Pros
Bike has great balance and handling, the rest is up to the rider. Components have been carefully selected and is up to par if not better for bikes in its price range 1800-2200.

Cons
- I had problems with the front hub within the first month. Not sure what the cause is but side to side play developed. What's worse is SPECIALIZED does not stock parts for warranty replacement, they leave it up to the dealer to fix it and reimburse them. Got it replaced and got rid of the stock wheelset. - Not enough color options, another 500 for the color I want. Because its a different setup :( - If your bike carrier is the kind that hangs in the trunk, or spare tire, you will find it a bit challenging to mount this bike or will cost you an upgrade :))

If you are looking at a Specialized bike for XC and can also handle all mountain, some degree of free & down hill, then I suggest you head out to a local dealer and test ride one.

I am 6'4" and 255lb. I'm first bike was a FSR XC PRO which I loved. As my skill level went up I found myself finding bigger and badder trails and the XC had too much flex and not enough travel. I have found my bike. This thing climbs like a champ and goes down just as well with zero flex in the frame. I love this thing.

Pros
This bike offers plenty of comfort, but still seems light and agile. I absolutely love the 3 settings on the rear suspension. I use the ProPedal position most as it offers a balance of comfort and responsiveness. This bike is sharp looking too! The frame, color, and components all fit together nicely. I love the carbon accent on the stem and the disc brakes.

Cons
It seems like the front end is a little light, but I've adjusted my riding style to compensate. The 'Open' option on the rear suspension seems a little springy, but I may have some adjustments to make to correct that.

This is my dream bike, so I've been loving going out 2 to 3 times a week. It motivates me!

Pros
Once I dialed it in the Fox suspension is a plush ride. The Pro-Pedal Fox Triad shock has a great feel both down hill and climbing. I get no feeling for pedal bob up steep climbs. If you know of a killer down hill and want an even cushier ride, flip the switch to "Full Open" and the ride is like butter! I also love the front Fox forks! From a fork that is basically their entry level suspension fork, the ride has enough adjustability to dial in a great ride! The fit and finish of the bike is quality and the bike has a comfortable feel. It's quick enough response for tight turns and tough enough for a "mild" down hill ride...

Cons
When I bought the bike, the first items I replaced was the "Rock Solid" seat that gave me "monkey butt" after the first mile! I am not a fan of the low rise bars either. For me, I felt like I was having to lean way to far over the front tire which was uncomfortable for me on down hill descents...

Review
This bike has been the best full suspension bike I've ridden (although I'm probably biased after dropping the coin) I have only limited rides on a "beat" Kona and Gary Fisher that was not really set up for my height and weight. I rode a Cannondale Prophet and was kind of wiereded out by the "Lefty" fork. I know these were quality rides, but they didn't fit me. When I rode the Specialized at the LBS, it seemed to fit me like a glove. For the $1800 price tag I bought the bike for, I've not been disappointed. I think if you are serious about a bike that can handle a wide range of riding (climbing as well as mild down hill rides) the Fox suspension and the components included are well worth the price of admission. This bike can take you on an epic ride and not let you down. Great Bike... My final recommendation and most important recommendation is to research and try as many bikes as you can before you drop your dollar on any bike. Once you've set your budget, ride as many bikes in that price that fit your style riding. Your bike should fit like a glove too...
