IRC Mibro Reviews
Description: (
from irctire.com)
As the newest addtion to the IRC tooldbox, the Mibro has already been used to mine for gold on U.S. and European soil. Ramped center knobs and the rounded crown provide a predictable, fast rolling tread for a variety of conditions.
The all new Mibro is a culmination of IRC's 78 year long history of bicycle tire production. Developed
primarily for the XC rider and racer, the Mibro will also find favor with those who desire a tire with a wider profile and more air volume, but still require a fast rolling tire. Three, basic elements were considered design imperatives when development of the Mibro commenced:
Lightweight Construction_
A supple and extremely light 127 threads-per-inch bias forms the basis for the casing build-up. Combined with IRC's super light rubber compound, the standard tire weighs in at only 470 grams in the 1.95" width.
High Rolling Efficiency_
Ramped knobs provide an easy means for the tire to crawl out of its traction divots, but the tread pattern becomes even more efficient through the thoughtful design of the knob array. The modified chevron allows the tire to stay up on the knob tracks while riding hardpack, reducing rolling resistance and the up-down-up-down sensation.
Predictable and Consistant Traction_
IRC's Hybrid Tread Compound enables the outer and inner tracks to each receive a separate rubber compound. The resulting outer knobs are stiffer to resist distortion when cornering while the tacky, softer center track provides excellent grip. Split knobs on both tracks provide twice as many working edges.

| Pros | Wide pressure range, good to use for a rear tire, easy to seat on the rim(for quick tube changes), good rear tire control-noticed less bouncing in downhill chop even at high pressures, wide tread pattern sheds light soil/mud, 1.95"=450g / 2.1"=520g / 2.25"=590g
Knobs tear and get shredded | | Cons | Wear - Wear - Wear these tires wear quickly...while they are inexpensive I can't say they are a good "Value Seeker" tire because they last about a 1/3 of other tires I've used. | | Verdict | The Mibro is a good rear tire option which I coupled with an IRC Mythos in the front. I was able to run higher pressures of 40+, the tire still remained grippy and handled even eroded downhills well. I didn't experience spin-outs in slick areas or roots/rocks - where I have before with even more aggressive tires. This may be the "Hybrid Tread Compound" - I noticed after some riding that there were dime-sized patches on the centerline tire surface that were roughed up and grippy so these tires do not ride mostly on the knobs but more on the tire surface. The 1.95" and 2.1" also have a high thread count of 127 TPI. Summary: Good tire for soft clay/dirt XC riding, maybe use as a race-only tire, expect these tires to wear quickly. |

| Pros | The price, and the weight of these tires. | | Cons | Probably not a good tire if your in the rocks a lot, durability issues if you know what I mean. | | Verdict | These seem kinda like a poor mans Specialized S-Works Roll-X to me, not as good in the traction department, but not $50.00 a piece either. |
