ProsRides great, good breaks, shifts well, great price

ProsStrong frame, good brakes, shifts smoothly, great price for the quality.
ConsLittle on the heavy side.
VerdictI have an '08. I have taken it on some very technical trails and done a little downhill. Even after a few bad spills the bike still keeps going. I'm very impressed by the quality of this bike for its price.

ProsStrong Frame, Good Parts, Great gearing, brakes kick ass. nice cranks.
ConsA lil heavy but i still like it, chain gets a lil jumpy peddling in the turns..
VerdictBought this bike after reading ALL of the reviews, Sport Chalet had it on sale for $399. I'm 6'1, bought the 18 inch, feels really good, brakes are awesome, forks work great, havent bottomed them out, on some serious trails. Front tire kinda sux, it not to grippy, bike just feels really nice, WAY better than my Mongoose xr75 i bought at Wallmart!

ProsWicked strong frame, good frame geometry, great price
ConsCheap components, no adjustment on fork shock
VerdictGreat price for a bike that can be upgraded with better components later, as they break. ram is on point and thats what matters, wicked looks and geometry, superstrong bike that will get yo otthere and back!

ProsWicked-strong frame, price, looks good stock!
ConsHEAVY, cheap components, mechanical brakes, no REAL damping adjustments on stock shock.
VerdictThis is a great starter bike for anyone who wants a super-STRONG frame and bike that if upgraded in the right places can and will handle anything you throw at it. I have upgraded just about all of the weak points on this bike and could not be happier!!! This frame kicks some serious freeride, AM, and with the right componenets, some DH A$$!!!

ProsFrame, geometry
Conspedals, thing is a TANK
Verdicthad this bike for over a year now, basically its a great bike. its one you can put anyone on and have a good time, a little on the heavy side but a good trade off for being so indestructible. slowly start upgrading components as they break and you will have a great bike.

ProsValue/Price, Reliability
ConsWeight, Pedals
VerdictI've had this bike for coming up on six years! It still works great and I frequently lend it to friends that don't have a bike. This is the bike that got me into this sport, and I've never had any major issues with it. Great value for the price; the perfect beginners bike.

ProsBurly frame,Geometry, great overall "bang for your buck".
ConsBrakes-Hayes HMX4's, Forks-Spinner Edge AL-1 (120mm), plastic pedals.
VerdictI am a bike tech at a local shop that sells DB's so I have been around these bikes for 3 years now, and overall I rate this ride as a "best bang for your buck" bike!(I went with the 2009 model.) You'll probably want to upgrade components as you break/wear them out. I rode a trail recently that had lots of loose/large rocks and couldn't seem to get the front fork to give enough on the downhill - for my liking anyway...but, it climbed like a goat! Chain slap was annoying too so I would recommend a sleeve for your stays(and watch your tire pressure, I lowered mine and had an easier traverse over the bumpy stuff). Overall, I really like this bike, great for singletrack/XC type riding... Would buy it again!

ProsIt's a hardtail. great setup for my short ass.(5'7"). Corners/maneuvers great. price is rite.
ConsDerailleurs are crap. kinda heavy. plastic pedal. Some 2" or so of travel in the peddlin. Change the rim.
VerdictOverall a good frame. Components are crap. Change the rim.

VerdictBought new in 2008 and have ridden the bike really hard. Really like the bike, but will probably upgrade for a full suspension next year. I'm really hooked on mountain biking!!!!

ProsGeometry of bike, heavy duty frame, disk brakes, components work good, seat comfortable, high speed stability going down hill.
Conspedals replaced at the store, weight of bike,
VerdictBought mine new in 2006 have rode the crap out of it with no problems or failures. Bike is very stable on backcountry roads at high speeds shock is adequate for down hill fire roads. I would recomend to anyone who wants a tough bike that can take abuse. Longest ride to date was 26 miles with ups downs pavement and dirt. It should be noted I am heavy at 225 and have used up a bike or two.

ProsI liked this bike because of the frame its feels rugged and firm great for trails . its takes the beating , I had for 8 months and with the same components GREAT BIKE!!!
Consthe pedals, but I agree change the components after you wear them out ...
VerdictI recomemded to the guys who wants to save $$$ and gets a good all around bike. Diamondback Response sport Great!..

ProsI liked the way the frame was formed for 3D rigidity since I like to stand up and peddle periodically.
ConsPeddles, front shifter, brakes occasionally require loosening to stop dragging, Tires are so-so
VerdictI recommend this bike for anyone that will ride enough to wear out the components and upgrade as you go along. I plan to ride the crap out of it and do just that. I like the way it climbs and use a handfull of brakes without concern for wear because upgrade replacement parts are not a problem.

ProsBest "Bang for the buck!", solid frame
Consweight,pedals&front derailleur
VerdictMost of the previous reviews are spot on. This bike has a strong but heavy frame that held up to the terain and my fat ass. I had this bike for 7 months now and the only componants I had issues with are the pedals and the front derailleur.

Prosframe, tires, brakes
Conspedals, gears
VerdictI've been riding this bike for six months. I had to replace a broken dereilleur of a jump, but other than tht its been solid. I would suggest a quick upgrade from the plastic, slick tires to more gripping medal ones.

ProsThe grip on the road and trails makes this a multi-purpose bike. This is a great bike for a beginner, advanced rider, or someone who wants to have a good ride at a good price. Some "expert" riders told me I would need to replace some things on the bike, but I have had it for a while and it works great.
ConsShocks and gears
Verdictanyone

ProsThe frame is great, the price is better.
ConsSome small gear issues, but were easily fixed.
VerdictI have had no real problems with the bike and I would recommend it for someone who wants to ride seriously, but doesn't have a few grand to shell out. Good overall bike.

ProsThe frame is nice and burly
ConsEverything but the frame
VerdictI bought this bike and replaced everything on it. The only factory component on this bike are the brake calipers. Once I did that I found it to be a great bike and would recommend it.
