Cycle-Ops Magneto Reviews
Description:
Discover the first Mag trainer with progressive resistance. The resistance level is automatically based on the riders cadence and wheel speed. How does it work? Three incredibly strong rare earth magnets and three custom-wound progressive coil springs are placed inside the flywheel. As the flywheel rotates at slow speeds, these springs force the magnets inward toward the center of the
flywheel. As wheel speed increases due to increased cadence or gear change, centrifugal force causes the magnets to move radically outward. The movement of the magnets changes the position at which torque is applied, automatically increasing the resistance.

Pros
resistance is great! the harder you push, the more you get.
Cons
I guess the lack of coasting could be one, although I like to keep a good pace going when on it. Had to buy a $40 tire to work with my Mtn bike.

Over all this thing is great. Took my OE rim and mounted the trainer tire on it. Very smooth, and constant! I love the progressive resistance! Can warm up at a nice easy pace, then kick it down a couple gears and feel the burn!

This trainer has worked very well so far. Surprisingly quiet and smooth. Provides a great indoor workout. I have only had my road bike on it but I would imagine mtb tires would produce a nasty growl. Only downfall I have seen so far is there is absolutly no coasting. The back wheel slows imediatly without constant cranking. All in all a decent trainer for the price.
