I really wish that I could be riding at this time of the year. It was around 11degrees this morning, and then it got to the high of 22degreed today. There is still a bunch of really icy snow leftover from last week's snow blizzard.

The Pearl Izumi Barrier gloves are the best I've used for blocking the cold. They make a few different "Barrier" options, I have a pair that look and feel thick like snow gloves but they still give good feel on the grips.
re: winter hand protection: I ride year round. When it's real cold I go with down filled mitts - hands & fingers stay warm! (Twist shifters make it easier) Good footwear & "toe warmers" are also a must.
I did a day before, mhen that was a mistake .. or maybe not just used to snow riding. I can stand the cold, but took me twice the time for my normal 1 hr ride coz of the snow. Saw some fat bike tracks, made me wish I have one of those... Im in the front range area of denver btw.

I feel like a big pussy I have to ride when its around 40. The one thing you can do most of the time in Southern California is spend most of your waking hours outside. I dont get to see the changing of the seasons. But on the other hand I love the sun
