There are a few mountain bike events in the Atlanta area this weekend that should be worth checking out:

SORBA Atlanta ride @ Panola Mountain: No trails here (yet) but the group will be riding on the abandoned golf course and on dirt roads in the state park. This will be an easy, social ride but it's a good chance to preview the terrain before official trails are (hopefully) built. Ride starts at 9am Saturday.

Georgia Tech Mountain Bike Race @ Horse Park: Schools from all over the southeast will be competing on Saturday and Sunday in short track and XC races. 9am - 4pm both days.

Trail openings in Marietta: Two city parks will officially open trails to mountain bikes this weekend. On Sunday there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at Burruss Park with the Mayor.

I plan on trying to hit the first two, anyone else coming out?

See you there. Should be a lot of fun if the weather will hold out for us.

Snapped a whole heck of a lot of pics Saturday during the short track races and the downhill slalom races. Some of my favorites are the ones of people styling on the tabletop at the end of the course during the practice runs.

The link to the ones I put on my photobucket page.

A few of my favs worthy of a direct link...

BTW, this year, they are going to leave the slalom course and make it permanent!

Dude, those pics are awesome! I think we need to add "official photographer" to your moderator title on singletacks Smile

Here are a couple pics I took, only one of my background-motion-blur shots actually came out. I think I need another primer or two from GoldenGoose!

Goose, those are some real sweet pics bro! Do you mind if I use the third and the fourth one as wallpaper for my computer? I love those DH speed jumps. The tricks are nice, but I like pure all out speed on my jumps. I guess I am so used to DH racing and jumping with speed instead of height and tricks.

Thanks guys. I ended up taking like 150 pictures but those are a couple of the ones that struck me. I got a few of you Runandbike but they came out poorly so they're not worth sharing. Mongoose, feel free to use whatever you like. I just do this for fun and I enjoy taking photos, so if you like them enough to use them, feel free!
