I know aabiking is planning a trip to the area for Bike Fest next weekend but is anyone else down? The SORBA/IMBA Trail Care Crew will be there plus there are Giant Bike demos, games, and food (and riding of course).
FATS is the best known trail in the Augusta area but there are other good ones including the Bartram Trail where the festival is being held. Bartram is one of the only area trails I haven't ridden so I'm stoked to check it out - who else?
Oh, and by the way - the IMBA world summit is being held in Augusta next year. The secret is out!

I may be down for a ride. Gotta drop my Dad off at the airport but I think that's early in the morning so I should still be able to make it down there for the activities. I'll let you know in a few days once I talk to him again. _________________ Looking for inspiration, everyday. |

I am planning on going. The 12 min drive though may be a little to much. On the serious side if my car is out of the shop I'll be there, if it isn't I am not to sure. |

If it is only a 12 minute drive, just ride your bike there. Save the gas and save mother earth.
If I did not have previous plans this coming weekend, I would have loved to make it up that way. Have plans for a ride and cook out with Singletracks member 'fat_boy'. Sorry! _________________

Yeah, "secret plans" definitely win out - have fun! We'll have to make the trip together some other time - FATS is definitely worth the drive. _________________ SINGLETRACKS.COM || Bike the net |

Well Lake Springs is 16 minutes from the house. The place I usally park is 12 min.
Bike Fest was a lot of fun. Got to say hi to many other riders that I have not seen in a bit. I even had a chat with trek7k. I did not stay for the food and bike games but knowin the folks cooking I am sure the food was great and the games fun.
also this was the first time that I wore the NMBP jersey and patrolled the trails with 3 others patrol members.
Bartram Trail is a fun/fast beginer trail that is 9 miles one way and a 3 mile off shoot loop (Lake Springs Loop) In the next few weeks work will begin on extending the trail 8 more miles from Petersbourgh Campground to Wildwood Park. This will in excense also connect it to Keg Creek trail a 9 mile loop.
Have to give my hats off to Corp. of Engineers and Sorba-CSRA for their great working relationship. There are also 2 other trail proposals on COE land, a loop system below the Clarks Hill Dam (possible similiar to FATS but with less loops) and a low maintence trail from the dam to FATS. |
